A new business will open its doors in Downtown Davenport this fall.

Blue Spruce Bakery has announced that they will open Blue Spruce General Store at the former Cookies & Dreams location at 217 E 2nd Street.

The store will have a few grocery items as well as meats & cheeses by the pound, light breakfast and coffee, a small lunch menu (including sandwiches on their sourdough bread), and pastries and bread from the bakery. Blue Spruce hopes to meet the grocery needs of people living and working in downtown Davenport.

There's not an opening date set for the store yet but it is on track to open sometime this fall. The post mentioned that the bakery's temperatures have been "outrageous" so the bakery operations will be based in the general store once it's ready to go.

The post thanks customers and the Blue Spruce team for making this happen, saying in part:

Now it is time for the sappy stuff. All of this would never be possible without our amazing, loyal customers. And it definitely would be possible without a kickass team. Which we are lucky to have. So many people behind the scenes have put in their blood, sweat, tears, and DID WE MENTION SWEAT into making this bakery dream into a reality.

Right now the store's hours planned hours are 5:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. If you live or work in downtown Davenport, you're welcome to submit to Blue Spruce grocery ideas that you would like to buy. You can send them a message on Facebook here.
