Nothing comes for free, and that rule even applies to kids' baseball.

For the first time since 1974, a team from Davenport is making its stand in the Little League World Series. While it's awesome and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the kids, coaches, and families, it's an expensive opportunity.

There are three large groups of expenses everyone in Williamsport is facing - food, transportation, and hotel. Since it's an annual event, hotels in the area know they can raise prices on rooms due to the number of people the series brings to town.

“It’s been estimated depending on how long the team is still in play … some costs for families could reach $2,000 and more,” Davenport Southeast Little League President Thomas Mason IV told OurQuadCities.

Luckily, the league itself pays for the costs of the coaches and players. But, for the families wanting to watch their player compete on the big stage, they're looking at hotel rooms ranging from $200-$400 a night.

The next option for stays is nearly an hour away, which isn't a big deal, except for the cost of gas to drive to and from Williamsport every day.

So, the league has set up a GoFundMe page for anyone willing to donate to help out the league and the parents of the players.

In an incredible show of community, the Quad Cities has raised over $10,000 for the team - and a little more of a push will take that to their goal of $12,000.

Let's rally around these kids as they go for the gold.
