The John Deere Classic returns to Silvis, Illinois next week after a year off due to the 2020 global pandemic.   On Tuesday, officials announced four four golfers who earned sponsor exemptions to play at TPC Deere Run.

Some 20 years ago, the John Deere Classic adopted a philosophy that we would provide up-and-coming young players with the opportunity to prove themselves against the best in the world and to give our loyal fans a chance to get a look at them early in their careers,” John Deere Classic tournament director Clair Peterson said. “With players like Zach Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed having gone on to stardom, we think it has worked out well.

Former NCAA golfers-- Alex Schaake (iowa), Tripp Kinney (Iowa State), David Perkins (Illinois State), and Michael Feagles (Illinois) will be participating in the July 8-11 event.

Along with these four young glofers, Willie Mack III and Luke Kluver will be going them in the event.

Michael Feagles just led the fighting Illini to their 6th straight Big Ten Golf Conference Title.  The Fighting Illini eventually lost in the NCAA quarterfinals to number 4 seed Oklahoma State.  Feagles was recently named to Golf Week's Second Team All-Americans.

Alex Schaake just completed his final season for the University of Iowa.  Alex was a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year and earned Golf Week Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2021.  Alex is the only athlete in the Iowa golf program's history to earn all-conference recognition four times.
