You Better Believe That An Iowa Horse Can Win The Kentucky Derby
Fancy hats. Mint juleps. And of course, horse racing. The Kentucky Derby is the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.
This year, those 2 minutes can finish with a horse from Iowa winning the running of the roses. Two horses from Iowa will be on the track this Saturday. But, do they really have a chance to win the race?
The 149th Kentucky Derby
The race day is actually a full race weekend. The races start on Friday, May 5th but the main event won't get started until 5:57 pm on Saturday, May 6th. And yes, it's that specific. So don't use the restroom at 5:56 cause you'll miss the race.
Most people won't be able to attend the Kentucky Derby but you can still party like you are at Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Derby gives you everything you need to host your own party. The food, fashion, drinks, and even games around the race. Like Kentucky Derby Bingo.
How Iowa Can Win The Run For The Roses
There will be 20 horses running the Derby this year. Two of them are from Ankeny-based Albaugh Family Stables.
The two you will be looking for will be "Jace's Road" and "Angel of Empire".
According to KCCI, Angel of Empire is a crowd favorite. The owner says that it will start slow but "is a closer".
All The Horses In This Year's Kentucky Derby
While those in Iowa would like to see either Jace's Road or Angel of Empire cross the finish line first, the smart bet according to Fanduel is "Forte". But closely behind in the odds, is Iowa's own "Angel of Empire" currently sitting at 8/1.
