Ranked as the 41st best secret beach in America, Family Destination Guides says Iowa's Rathbun Lake is a "stunning destination".

Surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, and abundant wildlife, the lake provides visitors with a peaceful and secluded escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With over 11,000 acres of water and 155 miles of shoreline, there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, and other water activities. Additionally, the area is home to several hiking trails and scenic overlooks, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

There are three designated swimming beaches at Rathbun Lake.  The beaches are maintained by the Corps of Engineers and cost $5 per car to use daily.
