Keegan Murray Sets NBA Record In His Rookie Season [WATCH]
It's turning out to be a dream season for the Sacramento Kings. It has also been a dream first season for former Iowa Hawkeye great Keegan Murray. The Iowa All-American was the 4th overall pick in last year's NBA Draft. Now, he can say that he is on an NBA Playoff team, AND on top of that set an NBA record Wednesday night!
Keegan Murray is now the NBA record holder for most three-pointers in a season. CBSSports reports that the Kings rookie has splashed 188 triples so far this season. Murray breaks Donovan Mitchell's record of 187 set in 2017.
Not only has Murray made more threes than any other rookie, he's done it at a historically accurate pace. CBSSports reports that Murray has hit 40.7% of his three-point shots. That is the highest rate ever for a first-year player with over 400 shot attempts. Murray's dead-eye shooting has helped a Kings team that was picked to finish towards the bottom of the Western Conference to the #4 seed in the West with only a few games left in the regular season.
Murray believes that the Kings are more than just a playoff team. NBCSports reports that Murray believes that coach Mike Brown is a "championship coach...he knew that inside our locker room, we were more than a playoff team." After 16 long seasons, the Kings are finally back in the playoffs, and Keegan Murray is a big reason why!
