On Sunday, November 2, 2025, we will once again need to change our clocks.  Daylight Saving Time will come to an end.  Our body's clock will be thrown off by the sudden change in light from our routine.  Our pets and children will have their sleep patterns disrupted by a law that is no longer needed in America.

Once again, we were all so close to getting the madness to stop with the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025.  But incompetent politicians who can't follow simple rules have once again delayed the process.

Proof That Daylight Saving Time Is Bad For Us

It's not just a guess that changing the clock is bad for you. Even Johns Hopkins University says it's bad for you.

“The scientific evidence points to acute increases in adverse health consequences from changing the clocks, including heart attack and stroke,” says sleep expert Adam Spira, PhD, MA, a professor in Mental Health.

Studies have also shown an increase in traffic accidents and workplace accidents when clocks change.

Does Anyone Still Want To Change The Clocks?

Polls show about 28% of Americans want to keep changing clocks twice a year.  Their arguments include: increased daylight in the evening, energy savings, and businesses that need more light later in the day.

Another group is AM radio stations.  AM radio runs at reduced power during the night.  With later sunrises in the winter, these stations would miss out on a big part of reaching the full potential audience of morning drive.

As somebody in radio, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but AM radio is already dying.  This could be the death blow to put many stations with a fraction of the audience as their FM counterparts and streaming services out for good.

AM radio is costly, and outside of major stations in major metropolitan areas, there aren't many left that are dominating the media landscape.

The Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 Passed...But...

The Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 would allow states to make Daylight Saving Time Permanent.  And it was approved by the committee 16-12.  Yay!  But wait.

According to Radio Ink, committee rules require 15 members to be physically present for a vote.  Only 10 were present on April 30, with the other votes all coming in by proxy.

Maybe they still hadn't changed their clocks since March and just slept in.  So now, they are back to the start of the process.

Whatever the case, we, the hard-working, time-crunched, sleep-deprived Americans, will enjoy all the summer sun we can and know that when November comes, we'll once again get confused by why we are changing the clock on our microwave.

Can You Pass The U.S. Citizenship Test?

Many immigrants who want to become citizens of the U.S. have a lot of knowledge they need to know before being granted citizenship. As a naturally born citizen of the U.S., you probably think you know it all, but do you?

During the naturalization interview, a civics test is given. The civics test is an oral test and the USCIS Officer will ask the applicant up to 10 of the many civics questions below. An applicant must answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test. Think you can get at least 60% correct? Let's find out.

U.S. Government's Level 4 Do Not Travel List

Many people travel at the end of the year for the holidays or to use up vacation days that may expire. These countries have a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory issued on them by the U.S. Government and should be avoided.
