Game 3 of the World Series will happen tonight (Friday) after the Atlanta Braves stole home field advantage from the Houston Astros in Houston.

The Braves won Game 1 on Tuesday evening 6-1 and the Astros countered with a 7-2 victory on Wednesday.  The Astros were favored in both games and the TOTAL went UNDER in Game 1 and PUSHED in Game 2.

Tonight is pretty even in the sports books eyes, as the Astros (-110) will put Luis Gracia on the mound and the Braves (-110) will toe the bump with Ian Anderson.  Look for the bullpens to get more work tonight as Garcia left his last start in the ALCS with leg issues and Anderson only went 5 innings in his only NLCS start-- they were scoreless innings however.

IMPORTANT FACT: THE WINNER OF GAME 3 HAS WON THE WORLD SERIES 70% OF THE TIME-- LOOK FOR VALUE FOR SERIES PRICES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS GAME.

There will be even more storylines outside of the Commissioner's Trophy when the series begins at Truist Stadium on Friday night.

Finally, the World Series has come back to Atlanta.

For the first time this century, Atlanta will host a World Series game.  The Braves last were in the World Series in 1999-- that included a run of a record setting 8 straight League Championship appearances.  Here is some interesting things to pay attention to besides the baseball itself:

  • The "CHOP" or the Tomahawk Chop will be an issue.  The hand gesture was described as "overtly racist" this week by the National Congress of American Indians after MLB commissioner Rob Manfred defended it.
  • MLB yanked the All-Star Game from Atlanta following Georgia's passage of a restrictive voting law nearly 6 months ago. By making the World Series, the Braves have inadvertently defied MLB's decision, replacing one marquee event with another.
  • Former President Trump will attend Game 4 on Saturday, his first trip to a World Series since being booed in 2019 at Nationals Park. He was recently in Georgia for a "Save America" rally and has been a major backer of Herschel Walker's senate campaign.

You just have to love when there is drama to such an amazing event.  Looking forward to a great game tonight-- hoping it is closer in score than the previous two games.
