Trauma Cleanup Crew Goes Viral for Showing A Day On Their Disturbing Job

You don't really think about or care who cleans up the mess after you die, but I always figured "Someone out there is making just above minimum wage to scrape my ass off the floor." Turns out, there is, and they just went viral for sharing some disturbing videos and pictures from their jobs.

“It’s not the kind of business that you advertise — but regardless people need to know what it is you do because it’s really prevalent,” said Dan Hood, 34, about his dirty, dirty job. “We only get involved when things get quite drastic.”

He gets very blunt in his Kennedy News:

“When the body does die, it leaks."

“The organs liquify and turn black," he explains. "The fluid that comes out is essentially the breaking down and decomposing tissue that leaks out of the body.”

He and his dad Ashley, run Trauma Clean Australia, and they get called in for the nastiest of the nasty postmortem messes.

In Perth, where their company is based, it gets hot. Like 100 and some degrees hot - and decomposition is faster in hot temperatures rather than cold.

One video, which I will warn you one last time that this is absolutely horrifyingly disgusting, shows a leather couch the crew had to take care of. It's covered in the person's blood, body fluids, and hair. The plasma has even pooled on the floor, and the bugs have found their way to this mess.

That's right. Take a look at that crap:

“We clean houses and hit the reset button to get them to a state where other trades [workers] will go in,” Hood told Kennedy News. “A lot of trades won’t get involved when there’s a lot of biohazard in a house, so we take care of it.”

The video shows a great angle of the couch, which shows the bodily fluids and hair stuck to it, followed by a grouping of bugs in the puddle of yuck below it.

One video of theirs shows a house that has an appropriately sized spiderweb for Australia, about 3" wide and runs all the way through the house.

Another video shows the before and after of a bathroom where someone died. Now if they just went and showed the spraying down of the tile, they could add it to one of those "Oddly Satisfying" video pages.
