[WATCH] North Scott's Buzzer Beater Makes SC Top 10 #1

North Scott was down 38-40 with six-tenths of a second left in the game. North Scott Lancer, Trent Allard, chucked the basketball 3/4ths down the court and to the receiving hands of North Scott Senior, Tytan Anderson.

The Northern Iowa signee drained an improbable 3 pointer to win the game 41-40 and send the Lancers to the IAHSAA Boy's State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines next week.

“I high-pointed it, quickly turned my body and rose up from there,” Anderson told QC Times Matt Coss. “I never brought the ball down."

“Wow, I’m like that looks really good,” said Anderson, who finished with a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds. “Wow, it just went in. My eyes got really big.”

The shot made ESPN Sports Center Top 10 Plays at #1.

The shot did create some controversy. The officials did meet and they did rule that the shot got off in time. But of course, not everyone saw the ending the same way and feelings do get hurt.

From Gary Krambeck of the Waterloo Courier: West coach Cliff Berinobis was convinced a slow trigger on the clock, which was manned by North Scott staff, denied his team a landmark achievement.

“At the end of the day, you’ve got kids in here (the Wahawk lockerroom) and you robbed them,” said Berinobis. “Everybody in this building knows it, including the North Scott fans.

“Common sense would tell you that on the catch, out away from the basket, he turns and shoots ... it’s not humanly possible. I don’t want to discredit them, but that shot shouldn’t count and everybody knows it."
