Cancer is a thief that comes into our lives. Whether you've known someone who battled cancer or battled it yourself, you know the toll that it can take on an individual and those surrounding them.

To celebrate those who have fought cancer, who are currently fighting cancer, or those we loved dearly and lost to cancer, the Quad City Storm partnered with UnityPoint Health for a "Hockey Fights Cancer" Night.

Earlier this week, families, fans, and players spent the day writing the names of loved ones on the ice, covering the play area in painted names.

Tickets for Saturday, February 5th's special event are available through TicketMaster or at the TaxSlayer box office.

As well as the ice being painted in their honor, the team will be wearing jerseys highlighting 50 names close to the organization, all of who previously or are currently battling cancer.

The topic of cancer is especially close for the Storm's #49, Joe Sova. This year marks 25 years since he entered remission of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He sat down with the team's media team to share his story earlier this week.
