Moline’s Exotic Thai Closes, New BBQ Thai Restaurant To Take Its Place
A popular restaurant in the Quad Cities has closed its doors. On Tuesday, August 31st, 2021, the Exotic Thai location in Moline closed its doors. They encourage patrons to visit their other Exotic Thai location in Davenport and other sister restaurants throughout the Quad Cities.
In a social media post on Monday, owners of Exotic Thia in Moline announced they would be closing the restaurant on Tuesday, August 31st. They said they will be closed for some months to give their staff a break and prepare for their next chapter of bringing Thai food to Moline.
Owners went on to thank their customers for the relationships that have been created for years. Owners ask that patrons visit the Exotic Thai Davenport location, the LemonGrass Café, and Miss Phay Café in the meantime.
Exotic Thai Moline owners continued with the social media post say,
"We tried very hard to keep the Exotic Thai Moline location open, but the challenges of today’s restaurant business environment were too difficult, at this time, to make it feasible. Finding employees who would work the demanding schedule involved with keeping a restaurant open day in, day out, has become less and less possible, despite pay increases."
Owners also cited the costs of "seemingly everything" are on the rise which means they were forced to raise prices. They said they knew something had to change
Exotic Thai Moline owners are preparing for a new approach to Thai and Asian food with Tuk Tuk Thai BBQ at the same location as Exotic Thai was in Moline off of John Deere road.
They will offer a BBQ-focused menu and serving style, in the same location off John Deere Road in Moline. There has been no announcement of when Tuk Tuk Thai BBQ will open.
